Elodie's Birthday Party

Yesterday, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, I painted faces at Elodie's 6th birthday garden party in Jackson Heights, Queens. It was a lovely day with many colorful butterflies flitting about. The weather was perfect for most of the party until a sudden shower brought everyone inside for cake.

Face Painting

Need a Face Painter?

My name is Ellen and I live in the West Village of Manhattan. I started face painting when my eldest daughter started Kindergarten and I volunteered painting faces at the annual Halloween festival at her school. I quickly became hooked.

I am a visual artist by trade and I have also worked in theatre. My favorite thing to do is look at a person’s face, visualize which design will best suit their personality, style and bone structure and then just wing it. But I know from experience that most kids have a definite idea of what design they want, so that doesn’t happen very often. Inevitably, everyone wants to be a rainbow butterfly.
Who can blame them?

Since I know how expensive birthday parties can be, I really try to work with your budget. I enjoy painting faces, so if you want to hire me, we’ll make it happen. I also do glitter tattoos.
